Hi Walt,

First off, SMTP sends *and* receives email...  POP3 is a way to
*retrieve* email after SMTP has delivered it to an email box.  This is
the case even with Imail, as far as I know (go ahead and correct me
people, if that's incorrect)

For example, on a unix based system running Pine, you don't need POP3 as
you can telnet in, then use the online mail system.

Or, if you have web messaging, you would not need POP3.  The web
interface would make if possible for you to view email.

If the customer is using your imail server, why would they *want* to
install an exchange server?
