I think it is quicker and perhaps harder to make mistakes using win2k
dns...it is flaky though, doing those little windows things, like adding
it's own stuff to your files, and re-adding them when you take them out and
so on.

I hired Len to move me from win2k dns to bind (ported to NT). After he was
done, I changed it back...now I am ready to throw it out the window (pardon
the pun), and will be putting it on a linux box running bind - I hated
editing three or four text files, especially keeping them in alphabetical
order for later editing...but using Vi can be fun! and I hate it when ms dns
adds stuff right before my eyes, all on it's own..
there are other things about it too - like having to set each domain's
security individually, what if you forget? so a weekly chore to run through
each one and check - try to do search and replace on that reg key!!! in
Bind -> one setting in named.conf and your covered on that front - so I
stuck with the dumb down purty app as long as I could - this time I won't be
back....
my $.02

notepad.exe isnt a WYSIWYG GUI?

Ive seen plenty of people screw up the W2K DNS via its
tabbed-dialog-from-Hell you have to traverse to "edit" a zone.
