ok, the firewall is not proxying POP, since POP is not normally used in
mail abuse. SMTP is.

>So, I can conclude that my firewall is doing something wacked out.

wrong. Your firewall apparenlty defaults to proxying SMTP. Turn that off
and have the firewall do PAT/NAT.

NAT alone won't. It's the SMTP proxy that is taling to internet, not your
Imail SMTP server.

ok, inside isn't the pb, SMTP proxy is.

>Ah well, live and learn!

yep. You have "learn" to ready what we are telling you about SMTP proxy.

you don't have to buy a new mail server, just <echo> turn off SMTP proxy in
your firewall <\echo>

>Thanks again for everyone's patience and help!

well, thank your for reading, now go do it.

If you do put a machine in your DMZ, don't make it your mailbox
server. Use an SMTP relay like IMGate.

Len <echo> turn off SMTP proxy in your firewall <\echo>
