I had it running OK for about a year. change the port that Imail listens on (there is a KB article on this),set the SMTP option in Imail to forward all mail to 127.0.0.1 and then in NAVIEG forward all mail to 127.0.0.1 and the new port that Imail is listening on. the main problem with having NAVIEG on the same box is that it is very hard to close the open relay. it it a lot easier when it is installed on a second box, this also reduces the workload on the imail server aswell. the other problem is that NAVIEG is very prone to any new virus that has it's own SMTP engine. it always takes Symantec a long time to update the program. we have been caught by both the Sircam and the Aliz Virus. you need to be on version 2.5.1.15. (by the way it is very hard to find out which version you need from symantec) the last problem is that no matter what you do NAVIEG will always leave your site open to abuse if people use the backdoor method of addressing emails bogusaddress%bogusdomain@yourdomain . both Imail and NAVIEG will then relay that email to bogusdomain and i haven't found a rule to stop it either.
I have recently installed Len's IMgate which now filters out most of any unwanted attachments as well as stopping spam attachs aswell. so far i am stopping about 70 virus's a week out of 2000 emails per week.
