Uwe,

>In September I asked on this issue at forum for some help

Our bad, then. Sorry about that. So let me ask you a few things:

1) What does CPU utilization look like when you run the ARCserve job?

2) Have you made sure that ARCserve is not contending for any files
with Imail, i.e. are you excluding all of the Imail executables and
DLLs that may be in use?

3) Tried running Imail on a different port?

4) Tried running something else on 8484 to see if it also is
vulnerable?

5) Run a 'netstat -a' with Web Messaging stopped and ARCserve running
to see if anything else (outgoing, maybe?) is binding to TCP 8484?

6) Run NTBACKUP as a test to see if tape drive access itself causes
the problem, meaning that you may have a controller problem?

7) Run an ARCserve Copy job, rather than an backup, to take the tape
drive interface out of the picture?

This issue is bizarre enough that I don't think you should be spending
any money or time on other webmail solutions, since you won't know
whether they'll crash as well under an otherwise unchanged
environment...

Sandy
