If  the  client  was willing to actually install s/w on their boxes to
work  with y'all (that is, the Exchange Server MAPI service), but were
stopped   by  firewall-level  restrictions  on  RPC  connections  (not
surprisingly,  really),  what  about using Exchange on Terminal Server
(and  TSAC)  to a box at your location, as that traffic is much easier
(one TCP port) to let through a firewall?

I  wish  your boss could just read this thread and put his money where
his mouth is. If he can't spring for a new server and/or new software,
he should just go with what you have, as OWA does this job PERFECTLY.
