Let's  put  it  this  way:  be  thankful  that  you can't do this, for
performance  reasons.  Personalizing each outgoing e-mail is a feature
best  left to the big guys of list serving, as it creates a tremendous
amount  of  CPU  overhead to begin with (merging the list members with
the  message  body), disk I/O (every address gets its own Q file and D
file),  and  excess  network  I/O  on  the  sending  side.

On  a server dedicated to lists and a product also built expressly for
that   function,   this  is  a  cool  feature,  but  it's  not  for  a
general-purpose mail server with large lists.
