This server is behind a firewall. I experience these errors when I switch between two versions of the firewall. The configuration of each version is identical. It only happens with the newer version of the firewall. My mail server has two addresses 10.0.0.3 and 10.0.0.4. I have one host, email.meridiancg.com, bound to 10.0.0.4. My firewall maps 10.0.0.4 to 208.20.231.4 and visa versa. My firewall maps 10.0.0.3 to 208.20.231.4 (just in case IMAIL talks on the lower address). External DNS maps email.meridiancg.com to 208.20.231.4 and visa versa. Internal DNS maps email.meridiancg.com to 10.0.0.4 and visa versa. DNS testing tools report no errors. The only thing left is to run a packet snifer on each side, and compare traffic. Or run another mail server outside, send a test message, and compare logs. Note: It is hard to search online for "s: s". > Here is a section out of my logs. > They have only been sitting of an hour or two. > If I leave them alone they usually send latter in the day or night. > > Is there a way to reprocess the email inthe spool manually. > > SMTPD (00BA0274) [208.187.38.31] C:\IMail\spool\D97e1274.SMD 2237 > SMTP (285) processing C:\IMail\spool\Q97e1274.SMD > SMTP (285) Trying worldnet.att.net (0) > SMTP (285) Connect worldnet.att.net [204.127.134.23:25] (1) > SMTP (285) 421 SMTP service not available, closing transmission channel > SMTP (285) SMTP_DELIV_FAILED > SMTP (285) >QUIT > SMTP (285) s: s > SMTP (285) > SMTP (285) requeuing C:\IMail\spool\Q97e1274.SMP R0 T1 > SMTP (285) finished C:\IMail\spool\Q97e1274.SMP status=3 > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Rod Dorman > Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 12:59 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] hanging emails > > > Jerry Freund wrote: > > I regularly get emails that sit in the spool directory.
