I actually have no clue. I would assume that it is simply IMAP with SSL,
but I have never heard of it being used before. It's pretty silly in most
cases, as it would protect data that was already received on an insecure
SMTP connection. But often the bosses request these types of things,
without knowing/caring what actually happens. It certain would be more
protection than not using SSL, but the extra protection offered is usually
minimal (unless you are on a known type of insecure connection).
