I would love to have a list server discussion. I have problems with them, too. Particularly with moderated lists. As a matter of fact, it was lists that made me join this list.
I do have lists running on domains that don't have their own IP's. I, too, would like to know if that is part of my problem. I posted my questions a week or so ago and go no responses. My biggest problem has this scenario: (I typed it using generalizations the first time--made it hard to understand so here's the real deal) domain: jrpc.org using virtual ip 4 lists: members current lgbt-coalition coalition-announcements members and current have, as their owner and their administrator, peace which is a user on the server under that domain. lgbt-coalition and coalition-announcements have, as their owner, a user who does not have an account on the domain or the server at all and have, as their administrator, the same peace account which the above two lists have. Members and current seem to be working, though I'm not sure and don't want to rock the boat by asking right now. lgbt-coalition and coalition-announcements have the same problem: when a list member sends a message to the list, the list owner receives it--as she should. The list owner should then, I understand (?), forward the message to the list for distribution. I do have another moderated list on a domain with a virtual ip. I know I had problems getting it to function correctly. I also had problems getting members and current to function correctly. I don't know if I misunderstand how a moderated list is supposed to work, if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a bug. Any suggestions? I have one domain working with no problem, but that one has its own IP. Do all domains serving a list need to have their own IP? Thanks in advance.
