"Should"  you?  RFC-wise,  sure.  Imail  allows  this and will in fact
reread  mailbox  indices  in  between  POP3  commands  to  account for
committed changes in other sessions. But I'm a fan of disallowing this
flexibility,       since       it       would       eliminate      the
checking-so-often-that-there's-command-overlap  problem.  You'd  still
need  to  coordinate  changes  made  by  other daemons, of course, but
that's less of an immediate issue for this thread.

Furthermore,  MUAs  should  be  written  intelligently enough to check
whether  a  POP3 receive thread is already running for a given account
and  not  start  another  concurrent  thread,  even if the check timer
suggests so.
