"Should" you? RFC-wise, sure. Imail allows this and will in fact reread mailbox indices in between POP3 commands to account for committed changes in other sessions. But I'm a fan of disallowing this flexibility, since it would eliminate the checking-so-often-that-there's-command-overlap problem. You'd still need to coordinate changes made by other daemons, of course, but that's less of an immediate issue for this thread.
