Cost isn't everything. In deciding to go with Declude and (whatever you
want ... F-prot or anything else you want that is a command line
scanner) we considered:
1. Technical support - who else has been on this list on Friday nights
or Saturdays and seen Scott actively post answers. Doesn't it give you
warm fuzzies that he knows so much about the Imail server, e-mail in
general, RFCs, etc.? I wonder how much Norton knows about Imail
(I-what?)
2. Customer service - I've seen it too many times. Scott either
answers your question to this list, or he will initiate a discussion
off-list so the rest don't get bored (speaking of boring, what is the
best mail relay option? JUST KIDDING!). Questions that we had during
install were answered within minutes.
3. Non-proprietary - like I said above, you can go with F-Prot, McAfee,
etc. Of course, Scott has recommendations, but if you are hung up on
some virus scanner it usually won't matter.
4. Simple interface, setup - even without Scott's help, you will have
this setup within a very short period.
5. Other recommendations - it was obvious that hundreds (thousands?) of
Imail servers successfully use this product. I'm not one to go with the
crowd, but I didn't want to be in the minority, either.
6. Cost. Yup, cost matters.

Declude may be less expensive but sometimes cost isn't everything. I
have only good things to say about Norton Anti-Virus Gateway.

It can run on the same machine, same IP, different ports.

Declude is much more cost-effective.
