Interesting -- every time I try connecting, it never responds. Their
mailserver is seriously broken, if it isn't responding for some
mailservers, and is giving a 421 to others.

I'm not sure where you are getting that IP -- it appears as though it is a
backup mailserver run by Sprint ("IP & DNS Storage", they call it). It
isn't in scanfrentz.com's MX records.
>I don't even understand why its trying to use the 146 address?
The MX records are:
10 scanmail.scanfrentz.com. [TTL=86400] IP=146.210.92.21 [TTL=86400]
20 smtp.tele.fi. [TTL=86400] IP=192.89.123.25 [TTL=3600]
30 smtp.inet.fi. [TTL=86400] IP=192.89.123.192 [TTL=21600]
IMail is doing the right thing by connecting to 146.210.92.21. And, given
how messed up their mailserver is, there's no hint that IMail isn't doing
anything properly.
What you want is to hard-code the IP 192.89.123.25 into the HOSTS file, and
hope that it isn't as badly damaged as their primary mailserver.
