Bizarre. Since you said that you had several users set up with vacation messages and that this was the first time that you encountered this problem, I assumed that it was a user configuration problem. To me, it looks as if IMail was asked to locally deliver an email from user1 to another [non-existent] user named Vacation, for *some* reason. Perhaps looking at the logs might shed some light as to what really happened but I'm not that hopeful (you'll likely see a "ldeliver" line to Vacation and not much else in the way of explaining the cause of this).
