THANK YOU... this post from Ron explains a lot. I created a subscriber using my hotmail account, and since that subscriber is not the list owner, the server DID in fact reject the LIST command. The iMail manual/help screen does not indicate this apparent discrepancy -- LIST command, when disabled, still works for the list owner.
The second paragraph reinforced an opinion I had formed when testing the LIST command using the list owner address, when the list of subscribers was returned. This paragraph should be revised or removed. When "Disable LIST Command" is checked, it disables the list command for all subscribers EXCEPT the list owner, regardless of whether the list is "anyone can post" or "subscribers can post" or "moderator only can post". Still, the email addresses of subscribers are available within each post, but a least the "bulk" way of obtaining the email addresses CAN in fact be disabled.
