Actually, the MX 0 is magic.co.la.ca.us, and the MX 10 is magic1.

But  you're  right  that it's trying the wrong host; it's trying the A
record, because IMail's DNS is not returning the MX records.

Yes,  do  an  NSLOOKUP  using IMail's DNS servers. Check your HOSTS to
make  sure  you  didn't tweak it at some time in the past. And look at
other DNS servers in use on your net to make sure IMail's haven't been
obsoleted by new ones from your ISP.
