You're catching on!

That's why you need to fix the problem (find out EXACTLY what happened, not 
just 'I think the spammer got an admin's password', and fix it), not just 
patch it temporarily (by blocking the spammer now, in a way that he can 
bypass later).  If the spammer is really smart enough to get an admin's 
password (which I doubt), he will be smart enough to send mail from another 
IP (or get another password).
