I'm running Imail 5.09 and discovered that relay is
open. I had a look at the ipswitch KB and followed
procedure "IMail-How to close an open relay"
(IM-20021108-DM01), but it didn't work, i.e. I can
still send by my smtp server without authentication. I
presume I should receive an error message from my
client telling me to use uid and pwd in order to sent,
but the mail is still being send.

I had another look at the KB and found a note at
"IMail - SMTP authetication" (IM-20000117-DM01),
saying that versions prior to 7.0 did not work for
shared IP-address Virtual Hosts which use an external
user database. Well, I'm using the IMail database
*and* shared IP Virtual Hosts.

Last question: My POP and SMTP server do have the same
name. My admin says it works correctly this way, but I
don't feel this is correct - any other ISP do have
different names for their POP and SMTP servers. Is
this maybe related to the problem?

Thanks for any help
