Hi 

I have a problem with my Imail 7.13 server running on W2k.  For the last few weeks 
this machines' SMTP service has stopped responding.  The service doesnt stop but you 
cannot telnet on port 25 into the server when it dies.  

After examining the event logs i thought it was McAffee Netshield that was causing the 
problem as it was crashing at the time of the failure.  After uninstalling the virus 
scanner i continued to do testing but the problem was still occuring.

After more digging around i found that the failure coincided with the backup of the D: 
drive.  At first i thought this was because it was trying to backup the spool 
directory so i excluded this from the backup on the client side but it has made no 
difference.

Our backup software is Veritas 3.4 and I can reproduce the error by running the backup 
on the D: drive (where imail is installed). 

Has anyone seen this problem before - i have though about excluding the imail 
directory altogther but i really need the mailboxes backing up so at the moment i just 
have to be prepared to restart the service every time it goes down.

The gap between 11:54 and 12:04 is where the problem occurred - the alerts i have 
setup informed me of the problem at approx 12:04.

If anyone can shed some light on this problem it would be very much appreciated.
