Thanks, this did not work... I have users who are having many problems. I also have more Outlook 97 users than I expected who have to upgrade as SMTP AUTH is not in Outlook 97. I have so many angry users right now I might have to back out of this. I made sure my BlackIce firewall is not messing with ports 25 or 110.
confirm that by seeing them fail to authenticate in your Imail logs
You done all you can, there are no knobs to twist for SMTP AUTH. It's always on, can't turn it off, even if you "disable SMTP AUTH reporting".I have 'Disable SMTP Reporting' unchecked. I am using 'Relay for Addresses'. What am I doing wrong?
Very often when testing I am getting an error that the senders domain is 'not a gateway'.
Imail anti-relay doesn't care about sender domain, only about recipient domain.
The "gateway" feature probably means Imail is checking Windows hosts file to see if it has been told be a relay/gateway for the recipient domain. ie, the check of the recipient domain isThis is very strange. My address when sending is on the local server. Why would it say the destination domain is not a gateway then block the mail sending? This is also happening to properly configured Pegasus errors:
"am I to relay to this recipient domain because it is:
1) listed in my localdomains? ("not localhost")
2) listed in hosts file? (ie, I'm "not a gateway, ie, Imail is not a relay/gateway for this recipient domain)
else, unauthenticated relay attempt denied"
When SMTP AUTH is successful, Imail logs "user treated as local" as if the sender was sending from Imail's ip or IMail's "relay for addresess", ie, the sender is totally trusted to send to any recipient domain.
Can you see their SMTP AUTH attempts failing in IMail logs?
