If  that's  so,  you  must  be  allowing  relay  via  some other relay
permission (AUTH, IP, MAIL FROM).

Counterintuitive  though  it may seem, I need to say it again: a HOSTS
file MX override does NOT imply relay permission. The relay perms must
be  present  in  the  SMTPD  properties,  and IP relay permissions are
bidirectional.

Guys,   please   test  these  things  out  before  deciding  that  the
KB/manual/archives  are all wrong. This is how you get pre-sales users
joining the list and saying, "Is it really that bad?" :)
