ok, i'll clear it up. i get an email from [EMAIL PROTECTED], now that
email account doesn't exist on the bluntz420 domain. but i received it at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] which is my email. now, can't the server tell
that [EMAIL PROTECTED] isn't on my domain, and therefore shouldn't be
sending email. i'm not really talking about spam, i'm talking about sending
mail through my server with an invalid domain account.
That's a (slightly) different story. Since the return address is on a local domain, the mailserver *could* check to see if it is valid. On the other hand, there are occasionally people who do this legitimately (sending mail from a "Please do not reply, this is sent from a non-existent account" account, for example). And, most spammers will use the same return address as the recipient's address (if using a return address on the domain they are sending to), which would always be a valid account.
