Thanks for the response. I have checked other log entries for mail sent from
our server and do not see the report about cmvacations.com. Could that be
part of the problem at their end?
>20030307 114100 127.0.0.1 SMTP (3668) 250-artemis.afrc.af.mil Hello
>cmvacations.com [209.216.53.69] (may be forged), pleased to meet you

That's just a standard line that artemis.afrc.af.mil reports. I usually see those in Received: headers. But since you know they have a problem on their end, there's no need to worry about this line.

However, it does smell more like a DNS problem on their end -- when I connect from here, it doesn't report the "may be forged". Instead, it returns our actual reverse DNS entry. Perhaps the problem is that the A record for cmvacations.com doesn't point back to 209.216.53.69. But that won't cause the mail to get blocked.

I have suggested that the problem might be at their end but they are quite
unwilling to believe that.

They are refusing to accept E-mail with a return address of [EMAIL PROTECTED], claiming that "Domain of sender address >[EMAIL PROTECTED] does not exist". Ask them to explain why they are rejecting the E-mail.

It's usually easier dealing with people like this if you can narrow it down to just one question, and leave everything out. Then they have to either answer the question, avoid it, or ignore you (as opposed to responding to other questions, etc., that is common if you don't pinpoint the exact problem).

20030307 123113 127.0.0.1 SMTP (4388) >MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
20030307 123113 127.0.0.1 SMTP (4388) 553 5.1.8 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Domain of sender address [EMAIL PROTECTED] does not exist

I'm guessing they are having a problem with the recent changes to the .org domain (perhaps they hard-coded the .org parent servers, and didn't fix them when they changed on January 1st, 2003).
