No, we are not running any MAPI compliant mail server.  We are running SQL
Server 7 (soon to be SQL 2000 possibly) on one box and Imail version 7.07 on
another box.

Since we aren't running Exchange, we can start the SQL Mail service on the
SQL Server box.

Yes.  The only problems we've had were not related to IMail per se,  but
more to using any transport provider but Exchange.  The MAPI spooler's
communication with an Internet Mail service is markedly asynchronous, and
SQL Mail seems to not always hold the session open long enough.

But that's getting a bit ahead of ourselves.  Do you have a working MAPI
profile associated with the SQLServerAgent service account?
