Testbed for a little casual comparison: PIII-600 256 MB RAM 384 MB swapfile 16 MB controller cache RAID 1, 2 x 18 GB 10K U160 HD IMail 7.15 (Note that this box is not a purpose-built mail server.) For an account with two 135 MB mailboxes (1000 messages each) and two 62 MB mailboxes (500 messages each)... Time to load standard templates from the console, machine otherwise idle: ~2 seconds. Per-message display: ~2 seconds. ...so, Roger, while slow performance for 2 GB mailboxes may be expected by some, debated by others, the numbers *you* are seeing simply are so crazy as to be well outside of the realm of "code problems" in IWEBMSG. What I think you need to measure is not only performance when the machine is dedicated to testing a single account, but also how your performance curve looks as users and overall service usage increases.
