http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/[EMAIL PROTECTED] shows that the domain abc123.com isn't set up properly (it has a CNAME in the MX record), so there are definitely problems on their end.
I'm guessing they have their mailserver set up so that you can only send to them if you use SSL with SMTP (which very, very few mailservers do -- perhaps less than 1 in 1000).
