Hopefully to be agreeably disagreeing -

Plaxo doesn't have to spam everybody, if I recall correctly. You get to
choose who you want to contact, and only those folks get hit with a message
"from you" to update (and get Plaxo).

It's actually a good idea to pick and choose. In one instance, I've agreed
to accept updates from somebody I don't know, never met, and don't really
care about (I know who he is, I consciously accepted the "connection". A
mistake). He seems to change his info monthly, and his birthday started
showing up on my calendar. I had a hard time getting my kids' birthdays to
show up on my calendar, let alone this fellow's.

I'm sure there's a way to "disconnect", but then I'd have to read fine
print.

Here's the deal -- you get the E-mail from your VP, figure if he did it he
probably wants you to do it. You go and download Plaxo, and of course
don't read the fine print. As your punishment for not reading the fine
print, Plaxo gets to spam everyone in your contact book. Of course, the
spam is disguised as a "update your information" E-mail -- but gets the
word out about Plaxo.

When I get these, I send a polite E-mail to the *real* person sending it
(if you just hit "reply", your E-mail goes to Plaxo), letting them know
what they just did.
