In the case where I have a set up like this all our inbound and outbound
email is scanned by messagelabs so where you have to send from the Imail
server to the other server it goes out through the firewall to
messagelabs so we don't have this problem but... With out it I can see
the problem.

...until you have to send from one to the other. :)

It's  not  quuite  as  simple as you've made it out--you still need to
create static mailroutes--but NAT would be an alternative.
