Anyone knows why IPSwitch is giving 5 relay options when only 2 of them
are "secure" and the 3 other shouldn't be used????

It's MBS. Message Board Syndrome. Kind of like LSS (Lead Singer
Syndrome),
minus the talent. Doesn't matter what board, doesn't matter what
context.
There are always people who'll be offended by questions that have been
repeatedly asked, and expend twice the effort it takes to say 'Do a
search'
or 'RTFM' to simply berate them and prove how big the platters in their
new
7200RPM drive are. Anonymity and the ability to let off your
frustration by
ripping a stranger halfway across the globe can be quite intoxicating.
I
don't have a big deal with it. Most times I get a kick out of how wound
up
some people get by otherwise insignificant details.

Sure, I normally Google the heck out of something before asking, but if
I
feel it's quicker just to pop on and ask 'How's this work?' in the midst
of
searching for it...that's everyone else's problem if it's been asked
before,
not mine. I'll still get the answer somewhere and they'll get to
provide
fodder for weeks of discussion on message board manners.

So beyond that, I actually do have a question valid to the mailing
list...
What exactly are the only acceptable relay options for a server so I
don't
end up on ORDB?

Thanks,
Sam

Maybe these basic things ought to be in the 'Welcome' email when you
join,
although considering how many email I see in HTML, with 'read-reciepts',
confidetiality footers, etc. I doubt it would do much good.

Should people reply in a polite way? Yes.
But people ought to also try to find the solutions to problems
themselves
before using someone elses time.
People aren't perfect, and thus we ought to be a little more tolerant of
basic questions as well as peoples frustrated reactions to these
question.
Everyone has room for improvement.
We should take into account that the person asking the question may have
had
the resposibility thrust upon them, and may be facing the possibilty of
losing their job, and thus are doing this in 'panic'.
We should also take into account that if we get a 'rude' response to a
question the person responding prolly is atleast taking time and
answering
your question even if they do it rude, and when they are responding to
common questions that the answer is out there for, they can't spend it
answering a question that there may not be an answer anywhere else for.

If you have ever asked a 'dumb' question(and who hasn't), you really not
in
a position to criticize others for doing the same.
If you have ever answered someone's question rudely(and who hasn't) for
any
reason, you shouldn't take offense to someone else doing so.

Lets all try to be a little more tolerant of others faults, like we
would
like others to tolerate ours.

But Jeffery, questions from end users will always be there, and yes that
is
part of our job.

However, when another admin is asking other admins for information that
is
readily available, what that person is saying is "My time is more
valuable
than yours and I do not have the time to look for that answer so I will
ask
you and stop you from what you are doing to answer my question which has
already been answered a thousand times already."

Answering the same question over and over goes with the territory. If I
was
unwilling to answer the same questions a million times I wouldn't have a
job... or kids.

Not to be rude, but if this IS your job, or part of it, being an imail
admin, then you should take the time. I have almost every message I've
gotten on this list since I signed up last year, have I read them all?
No,
but if I have a question, I can look through those first to see if it's
been
asked before.

>>Thank you to all those friendly responses, which like to share their
knowledge freely in environments like this. One day we will all be as
good
as those who think who they are, and maybe friendlier.. Remembering
where we
came from once.

Just remember, those that post here have jobs too, and they lend their
time
to help. Some get testy when they answer the same question for the
upteenth
time.
