Ah, that makes sense now. IMail should not try the IP address (per the
RFCs), but going to the secondary MX is a good thing. So it does sound
like they have multiple issues.
If you really need to send mail to them, you can add an entry in your HOSTS
file (but beware that they will likely change their IP at some point,
causing your mail to then go to the wrong address, which can be difficult
to troubleshoot).
