You don't have 3477 10054 errors to the same ip do you (12.33.164.7)?  I'm
thrown a bit what the developer must have been thinking by including a
statement such as 'malicious connection type'.  One thing comes to mind is
maybe the receiving end is not responding with the proper sequenced smtp
dialog.  Telnet to 12.33.164.7 (united health care corp.) show's that it's
down at the moment. 

You could try to stop the Imonitor service maybe the tcp states are
exhausted and still in a hung wait state.  A remote possibility is that
perhaps you have a client with an email worm trying to send to bad ip
addresses?
