I have a ton of orphaned D*.SMD files in the spool on a W2k Server, Imail version 7.15. I read that:
Are these D*.SMD with no matching Q*.SMD file (either in \IMail\spool or \IMail\spool\overflow)? If there is a matching Q*.SMD file, it actually isn't an orphan.
Is there another way to correct this?
The first step is identifying the problem. If there are indeed no Q*.SMD files, then IMail tried to deliver the E-mails, but couldn't. You would need to check the IMail SMTP log file to see what it was doing, and why it couldn't deliver them.
Another thing you can try is opening a handful of the D*.SMD files, and seeing what is in them. With the volume you are seeing, it could be a spam attack or mail loop.
