There are no Q*.SMD or T*.SMD files associated with them - which is why I considered them to be orphaned.
Good -- that means you know what you are doing. :) Some people might mistakenly assume that the files are orphans when they are not (in which case using the term "orphan" would cause people to look in the wrong places for a solution).
I don't have an overflow folder...is it necessary?
That's fine -- that will be used if you are using a program that handles the "overflow situation" in IMail v7 and earlier (where it would be very slow to deliver E-mail if IMail reached its maximum capacity for incoming E-mail). IMail v8 includes its own Queue Manager, though, that makes the desire for an overflow directory obsolete.
The logs have a lot of this:
20040228 000353 127.0.0.1 SMTPD (02C90102) [208.138.78.196] unacceptable mail address in MAIL FROM:<angelita112291>
This will occur since "angelita112291" isn't a valid E-mail address. However, this shouldn't be related, as IMail isn't accepting the E-mail.
What would be most useful is the "SMTP" or "SMTP-" log file entries (which show IMail attempting to deliver the E-mails). What you can do is take one of the file names ("D1234567.SMD", for example), and search the IMail log file for the file name minus first character and extension ("1234567" in this case). The second hit should be one of the SMTP or SMTP- log file entries. Looking at the lines after it with the same identifier ("(02C90102)" is the indentifier in the log file entry I quoted above) should produce the necessary log file entries.
