Also - I know about Declude for antivirus, but it seems pretty pricey. Is there anything out there that is simple, and a bit more affordable ?
It all depends on what your specific needs are.
For simple and reliable, Declude Virus and IMail AntiVirus both integrate with IMail. There are a lot of gateway options, too. But, all of those are probably outside your price range.
It sounds like you are going to need to use something in the open source or freeware range, which would include options such as IMGate or ClamAV. However, it's important to remember that free just refers to the initial cash outlay, not the cost of ownership (updating, dealing with viruses that get through, etc.). In your case, where you are already receiving viruses, blocking 98% of them will be a major improvement, so that may be all you need.
If you are interested in reliability, you can go to http://www.declude.com/tools and use the "Test Virus Sender" to make sure that the mailserver virus scanner that choose is able to properly handle viruses in E-mail. Mailserver virus scanning is far from simple -- it requires highly accurate MIME decoding (which took several years for Ipswitch to get right in web messaging), proper deviance from the RFCs, and mailserver AV vulnerability detection. These are things that take a huge amount of research to properly learn and handle.
