We do this same thing. But we have rules on who handles the message. for example the list goes to Person1, Person2, Person3
the rules are as follows if Person1 is not in the office then Person2 handles the email if neither Person1 or Person2 are in the office then Person3 handles the email. All responses are sent back to the alias and to the origional sender so all list members are up to date on the email threads to the alias. We only use this with aliases with 4 or fewer members. Alis's with multiple members are assigned 1 person to respond.
