Most people don't have this issue with iMail. I suggest you check your server hardware and operating system software, as well as looking to see what other services are running in the machine. Also, it's relatively easy to move iMail, (http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980116-JB11.htm - How to move iMail to a new computer). Perhaps you can try that as well to make sure iMail is properly configured.
