I certainly understand your point. I would certainly support any legislation that would provide penalties for spammers, the tougher the better. Clearly the laws in Europe have stopped the spammers in Europe from openly spamming from their own servers. However, how many European spammers do you honestly think have been put out of business? If they are in jail, great. Otherwise, they are using zombies (that could be anywhere in the world) or they are buying servers in Asia or wherever. My point isn't that I can prove that spam laws aren't worthwhile. However, if you believe that once legislation is passed all of the spammers will think to themselves, "The party is over. Time to give up spamming and volunteer at an Aids hospice.", you are incredibly na�ve.
