I currently have Imail setup as a Gateway for MS Exchange. I would like to setup Imail to reject mail to invalid users. Could Sandy or someone else explain option A (below) in more detail. The instructions for "store and forward" in the knowledge base says that the Domain must not exist as a domain or host alias within Imail, so I am not sure how to set this up. There are only 25 users for this domain, so it would not be a problem duplicating the users in Imail that are setup in Exchange. Craig

IMail already knows they're local. > Maybe it's advisable to run another copy of Declude Junkmail and Virus > on our backup emailserver? Well, that would help in part, since mail destined for off-site servers would not need to hit the mailbox server. But that's not enough. If you want to drop mail for invalid addresses at the backup MX, you can either (a) create a virtual host on the backup with aliases for each [EMAIL PROTECTED] redirecting each to [EMAIL PROTECTED], or (b) use MS SMTP with VamSoft's ORF and periodically load in a text file containing the userbase. > We receive lots of email directly at the backup email server (MX 10) > when the primary emailserver (MX 5) is running normal (with no > execeptional load). How is this possible? Spammers now explicitly target backup MXs on the assumption (in your case incorrect, thanks to Declude, but in many cases correct) that anti-spam checks will be hampered. Spamware doesn't care about the MX algorithm. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.mailmage.com/download/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/Release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
