The only way to reject mail to invalid users is to _not_ use a global
store-and-forward, but rather to indeed set up the host in IMail and
create off-server aliases for each Exchange user. It is possible to
periodically batch-update the aliases from an Exchange LDAP lookup,
but I don't have a utility to do that yet (I need to build one for a
client, however, and I will post it when complete).
If you had a larger site and could bear the complexity, you could
alternatively put MS SMTP in front of IMail (which stays in front of
Exchange) and use Vamsoft's ORF to automatically reject based on LDAP
lookups into Exchange; this is one of ORF's best features, but if
you're not already deploying MS SMTP separately, that's a bit of a
leap.
