Please re-read my post. It had nothing to do with third party products.

If it takes you 100 hours to fix it, you're valuing your time at
$3.50/hour. That's fine for you as an individual. But for a for-profit
company (or even non-profit, if paid employees are involved), stockholders
(or board members) will scream if you pay someone $6 or $10 or $50 an hour
for 100 hours just to save spending $350.
You are welcome to do it yourself (whether or not you save money). But
please don't attack the very logical advice that is here (so logical that
I'm sure many people have lost jobs for not heeding it).
Besides, if someone is going to lose a job. It will be over the fact they
bought Imail because it was touted to do something it doesn't do that
effectively for some. I agree, most execs will argue the fix for a problem
is not to through more money at it., they will let the person go for
recommending a product that doesn't hold up to it's claims.
