I spend about thirty minutes a day (fifteen in the AM and another fifteen in the PM - when the URL list is updated.)

1. Looking through the quarantined mail
2. Checking the anti-spam log for the false positive mail that got caught due to the Ipswitch URL Blacklist
3. Pulling those domains out of that list
4. Putting those domains in my "removed" file
5. Uploading the new URL Blacklist
6. Running the batch file on the server to copy the updated list to all the domains
7. Restart the QueueManager

And while I would love to by Declude I don't have that spare $9,100.00 (in-shop billing rate of $70/hr x 2.5 hours/week x 52 weeks) sitting around so I spend the time.

Now if Ipswitch would be more careful about the domains they blacklist we could all work less hours fixing that issue.

Of the nine email that were redirected on since the 14th: One failed due to Statistical filter, one failed due to phrase filter, three failed due to HTML content filter and four failed due to Ipswitch's URL Blacklist.

Unfortunately cost is an issue so a third party solution wont' work.

You'd be surprised how many times I've heard people say that -- and then say things like "I only spend 10-15 hours a week updating the spam filters". Quick math shows that in the U.S., that would cost a typical company about $10,000/year. Of course, your situation may differ.

That's how I used to justify upgrading computers years ago -- even though I couldn't afford upgrading them, I saw how much faster I could get work done, and calculated that it would be more cost-effective to upgrade the computer than to spend $0 and keep the old one as it was.
