Do I understand this correctly? The BitDefender for Windows Free Edition
includes an automatic database updater but the pay for IMail Standard
Anti-virus which uses the BitDefender engine doesn't include automated
database updates?

Per http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20040401-DM01.htm IMail AntiVirus Standard does allow for automated virus definition updates, but you have to stop/restart the IMail SMTP service each time (IMail AntiVirus Pro does not require the stop/restart).
