Senerio: IMail server on port 25 is public via firewall (Server A), MSExchange 2003 server on port 25 is not(Server B). Both are on the same internal subnet. I would like to use Server A as an SMTP gateway to reley smtp traffic from external addresses destin for Server B by domain i.e. SMTP traffic comes in Server A destin for (mydomain.com) which is hosted on Server B. How do I configure IMail server to reley|forward that message correctly?
Server A is hosting a domain with mailboxes
http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980116-DM01.htm covers how to do this.
Reason I am persuing this: I would like to take advantage of the IMail servers anti-spam and anti-virus packages?? I am assuming that the anti-virus package will still scan messages in a configuration like this.
AFAIK, both IMail v8 anti-spam and IMail AntiVirus will work fine if you are acting as a gateway (but IMail v8 anti-spam will not work well if you have a gateway in front of your IMail server). I believe all third party anti-spam and anti-virus products for IMail will also work fine if you are running as a gateway.
