This is more to use the excuse to ask a question than a direct response to David-
While Imail obviously CAN be used in that setup, doesn't it seem a little like overkill? Our Imail server here doesn't relay a large volume of mail, but at a previous company that I worked, we for found that Imail runs relatively inefficiently at high SMTP traffic conditions. No doubt because it isn't designed to be a dedicated SMTP server! Furthermore, if the only set of features that are being used are the SMTP and traffic filtering rules, doesn't this mean that you're paying way over the odds for services that are available for far less TCO, because they're bundled in with a whole bunch of features that aren't being used? We see this problem repeatedly in consulting when businesses get confused and think "exchange server" is an adjective rather than a noun. I would think that in David's scenario, I wouldn't use Imail - I'd use Postfix with SpamAssasin? The main reason I ask is because one idea that we have in mind here is to do exactly that: put a Postfix / SpamAsassin box in front of our Imail servers to act as a mail gateway. Thoughts?
