Last monday, I asked Ipswitch when they would implement the latest antispam technologies (SPF, Greylisting and SURBL). Tech support answered that they "expect to see SPF" in IMail, but there is no time frame.
That's what happens when you rely on a company with expertise in MTAs to handle your anti-spam needs. While the people at Ipswitch are experts at MTAs, they are just learning about anti-spam. They are doing a pretty decent job, but they are the equivalent of a startup when it comes to anti-spam (and just a reseller when it comes to anti-virus).
Remember, for years there was no anti-spam in IMail, and people had no choice except to use a fully featured anti-spam program (almost always one designed specifically for IMail). IMail now has both, but IMail v8's anti-spam is a feature of an MTA, whereas Declude JunkMail is full anti-spam program (that can do lots of things other anti-spam programs cannot: gateway/backup mailserver support, geolocation, etc.).
Declude JunkMail has been around for over 4 years now, and only works with IMail. While you see IMail as not having SPF support, thousands of people using IMail have had SPF support for close to a year now! Declude JunkMail was the first commercial program to have SPF support -- back at a time when very few end users had any clue what SPF was. Now, with the deadline for publishing SPF records a month away, people are all of a sudden hoping their anti-spam software will have SPF support. There's a very old expression, that holds true here: you get what you pay for. Ipswitch doesn't make any money on IMail v8's anti-spam, since it is a feature of the product. While they may add SPF support, it is not going to be easy, since they have many other priorities -- and since anyone who wants SPF support in IMail can get it.
