If you search long and hard enough almost every aspect of IIS 5 can be
configured using wscript or vbscript as well as IIS6. IIS6 is a little
easier to see changes because it is an XML file not a binary one like in
IIS5. As far as the FTP server goes you may want to look at Serv-U pro and
see if you can get an SDK for it. It works very well and has the
configuration you are looking for as far as putting users in the right place
based on login.

Subject: [IMail Forum] OT: IIS6/FTP Server Question

Sorry to post OT, but where do you find a better group of people already
hosting on Windows?

We're thinking about moving to 2003 server, to consolidate several older
2000 web servers on a
more robust server (dual xeon, 2gb, 200gb raid, etc...) I know IIS6 can be
config'd via XML.
Any thoughts on how easy this is to maintain? From my perspective, to be
able to config purely by
scripting would be nice.

BUT can I also avoid setting user accounts by using a 3rd party FTP server
app? I know there are a couple
out there. Any recommendations? Ideally one with a text/xml config file,
monitoring one IP address, and
routing people to the right folder based on login credentials without the
limitations inherent in MS FTP?

Thanks

Chris
