It supports spamming as defined by every source that I know of, and
this coming from a mail server company. Go figure... I was also taken back by the attitude that they were justified in doing this because it was listed in their privacy policy. Anyone hiding behind a privacy policy's language and "default unconfirmed opt-in" as justification for giving third-parties one's information is completely disrespecting their customers. Just out of curiosity, if you had a "partner" that you thought a customer of your's might be remotely interested in speaking with (but most likely not), would you ask your customer for permission to share that information or would you just start passing it around without regard to the possibility of this angering your customer? As far as privacy policies go, I put together a special one just for this list: http://www.mailpure.com/policy.html I hope everyone enjoys it :) Matt Allen Armstrong wrote: Hi, I just thought I would add something here:Ipswitch ever since we purchased our first Imail server has always referred us to their gold partner when we downloaded their evaluation products. They have done this for at least two years. Have worked for a sales company in the past it all depends on your marketing structure. If you want to hire the sales people and actively call everyone all over the world that downloads eval or do you want to build products and focusing on customer support. You could cut out the middle guy out and forget about the resellers. I am just thinking this Ipswitches marketing strategy that's all. My two sents. :) Allen Armstrong-----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:IMail_Forum- [EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Matt Sent: December 29, 2004 11:07 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] FW: Ipswitch ICS evaluation Only a scumbag company would distribute your information to other companies for marketing purposes as a result of a trial download of a $6,000 piece of software. For some reason the folks at Ipswitch feel compelled to treat their customers as just simply dollar signs, and it is certainly causing them grief, though the marketing idiots that are making these choices are obviously oblivious. Needless to say, this does not surprise me. They should have fired these people back when the whole ICS thing exploded in their faces. Unfortunately they are now pumping their customer base for support contracts at a 40% increase in price for a piece of software that they refuse to sell to the general public anymore, and they will even nickel and dime their customers by selling their information to third-parties. Run as fast as you can from the greed of corporate America that has infected this once proud company.
