I have encountered some ominous issues building UW imap using gcc 4.1.1 under Solaris as a 64 bit application.
You haven't looked at this history for this list. It's come up several times in just the past couple months. Mark doesn't support building imapd as an LP64 executable, and although some sites have, he doesn't recommend it.
