My 2000imap works great except for 2 issues: 1-) May 2 15:17:12 newpes imapd[9686]: [ID 273760 mail.alert] Fatal error user=frank2 host=fronti [192.168.5.130] mbx=???: Out of memory May 2 15:17:12 newpes imapd[9686]: [ID 746981 mail.alert] IMAP toolkit crash: Out of memory
This error doesn't occur extremely often, but I would still like to get rid of it. 2-) I've had the experience that when choosing in outlook not to save password, I would get an invalid password error in the logs. But once I chose to save it... I could access the mailbox fine. Any ideas? The mailbox name is no longer the same as its filesystem name. Nor, for that matter, is it hidden from a user of a client which knows what do do when you select a single-use mailbox name, but must now choose between two different commands when the server suddenly is changed to have dual-use names. Put another way, switching to dual-use will change client behavior in ways that can cause user confusion. It is a fundamental design goal in the traditional UNIX driver in UW imapd to maintain compatibility with UNIX conventions and traditions. There are people who choose UW imapd specifically for this reason. It was also a design decision to follows this tradition in the mbx format driver. There are multiple choices open to people who do not care about compatibility with UNIX conventions and tradition. These choices include using a different server, using one of the dual-use formats in UW imapd, or using a modified UW imapd. The official version of UW imapd will maintain its current level of compatibility with UNIX conventions and tradition. If you modify UW imapd, please remember the license requirement to label it as a modified version, so I don't have to waste time with bug reports from it.
