Once the SMTP is established and progressing to the SMTP AUTH secret handshake, there is nothing "filterable" afaik in that specfic part of the dialog. > I have >read about the cisco pix fixup protocol and smtp proxies on firewalls >breaking smtp auth. it's worse than that, it first obscures the protected mailserver's SMTP banner with a string of ****************************, so if you are seeing the Imail SMTP banner, a PIX SMTP fixup is not in the path. >I will not be able to find out what routers/firewalls they are using until >tomorrow. Any workarounds besides allowing smtp relay for addresses or >questions I need to ask choiceone? Thanks. to repeat, if mail client or telnet can see the Imail banner and run a full SMTP AUTH dialog to the point of failure, my first suspect would not be a firewall or proxy. I would try SMTP AUTH with more than one mail client. >Sorry for the OT. it's not off topic Len Len
